Just a quick post from me. I’m trying to convince myself to write a website review for a homework assignment and the convincing is only partially working.
For all those wonderful people that have some spare time to write, today is the first day of JulNoWriMo. Just like NaNoWriMo but for July. I would totally do this but I should probably focus more on the last bit of my grad program. I will be joining in November with as many friends as I can gather.
Here is the link for July: http://julnowrimo.com/
I hope you have a blast and please write in and let me know how it is going for you if you try it!
Good luck with the grad program!
My JulNoWriMo project is going well so far – this is my fourth year participating, I think. Doctor Who/Roswell fanfiction crossover for the win!
Dr. Who and Roswell. That’s an interesting idea. Do you think that the JulNoWriMo helps you in getting your stories done? I always worry that there will be too much pressure to write what you can in a month that the story won’t be that well developed. I’m used to spending months thinking about the plot and characters and researching but then again I haven’t finished a story yet. Getting closer though. Good luck with this months writing!
I spend months just convincing myself to think about thinking about what I want to write. I’m also curious if a deadline = more productivity…
I believe the point is just to write and not worry about plot and how good the story is. The project was started by Chris Baty and a few other people. Chris Baty has a book out called “No Plot? No Problem” that gives advice on how to prepare for the month long writing binge. I suggest checking it out and I know you have the means 😉 It kind of gives you a better idea how to set up. And again, I believe the point is to get the story out, the more you write the easier it gets, and to stop going back to revise. It will probably be a lower quality story but at least you will have the 1st draft done and you can go back and revise afterwords.
